Windows Store for Windows 8/RT has been on a marathon of getting hundreds of new apps in Store. On the launch of Windows 8, Store was getting 500-700 apps daily but, with the passage of time and also due to the holiday’s, the app inventory in Store decreased a lot and dropped to just hundreds apps daily.
Till date, there are 25,429 apps available in US Store for Windows 8 out of which 20% are paid ones and 79% are free which has decreased from 82% over the last weeks.
The most popular category in Store is still the ‘Games’ with 3,863 apps available as of posting this article while ‘Entertainment’ is a bit behind with 3,266 apps. ‘Government’ as usual is the least popular category with just 100 total apps.

Coming to the paid and free apps, Windows Store has 79.21% free apps where ‘News & Weather’ category in Store has the highest number of free apps i.e. 96.02% whereas, the ‘Music & Video’ category has the largest paid apps ratio i.e. 43.52%.

Windows Store for Windows 8 is growing slowly but, still the question is whether Microsoft will be able to get 100,000 apps in Store in just 90 days of launch out of which less than a month is remaining. Also, the free to paid app ratio in Store for Windows 8/RT is changing where paid apps are increasing and free apps are decreasing.
