Windows Phones on O2 UK will get the Lumia Denim firmware in early-2015


We have already seen the official announcement about the upcoming firmware update for Lumia Windows Phone devices where many new features would be added in the Lumia Denim firmware. Microsoft formerly Nokia has announced that the Lumia Denim update would start rolling out to devices in late 2014 and now, UK’s leader cellular network, O2 has revealed the plans about Lumia Denim update roll out.


O2 UK has announced that Lumia Denim will start rolling out to Windows Phone devices on the O2 UK network in early 2015 possibly in January. The network has unveiled that Microsoft hasn’t provided them with the Lumia Denim update for mass roll out after optimization for their networks.

Microsoft is expected to hand over the Lumia Denim bits to O2 soon and then, it can take about 2 months for its release to masses. Lumia 930 has already received the Lumia Denim and Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 1 update which bring Cortana and live folders to Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone.

Lumia Denim will include many new features including the 4K video recording support, rich capture, faster camera speeds, HDR, voice-based Cortana activation and many more.

Microsoft is expected to roll out Lumia Denim firmware to high-end Lumia flagship phones like Lumia 1520 and Lumia 930 in November but, other devices will receive the update after that.

It is to be noted that some Windows Phones devices on carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile in the US still have to geth the Lumia Cyan update which started rolling out to users around the world in June 2014.
