Windows Phone 8.1 has got an option to move apps to the external SD card to save memory in the internal memory of your phone but, it is still lacking a lot of features. Windows Phone may have got the option to move the apps to the external memory but, the apps haven’t been configured to collect files from external memory.
WhatsApp, for instance, can be moved to the external memory on your phone but, this doesn’t mean the WhatsApp will fetch the files from SD card. You won’t be able to send files and videos which are stored in your SD card to people using the WhatsApp messenger.
If you are looking for a way to send files stored on your SD card to your WhatsApp contacts then, you may follow the instructions below.
First of all, you will need a file manager for your Windows Phone. Files, the file manager is official File Manager app by Microsoft and its free. Download it from here.
Tip: You can use any file manager app which you like.
Once downloaded, open the file manager app and go to your SD card. Here navigate to ‘Pictures’.
In pictures, create a new folder named ‘WhatsApp audio’.
Once created, move the video(s) which you want to send via WhatsApp to that newly created ‘WhatApp audio’ folder.
Once moved, go to WhatsApp and send the video by pressing the ‘Video’ button under ‘attach’. You will see the folder named ‘WhatsApp audio’ there which will include your video(s). You may send it.
Tip: It is to be noted that WhatsApp doesn’t allow files larger than 7MB to be sent. You knew it, didn’t you?
