Windows Phone 8.1 has got a lot of new and exciting features like Cortana and more. Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan update finally adds the ability to move your installed apps and their data to the external SD card of your Windows Phone.
Windows Phone was missing the ability to move apps to external SD card on your Phone until the Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan updates. Now, you can easily move one or all of your installed apps to external SD card easily in seconds and save memory on phone’s internal memory.
Follow the instructions below to move your apps to external SD card of your phone.
Note:It is recommended to make sure that there the SD Card in your phone don’t have apps from some other phone. Otherwise, your data on the SD card would be lost.
Once you have inserted your SD card in the Windows Phone, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Storage Sense’.
Once in ‘Storage Sense’, you would see your ‘Phone’ and ‘SD Card’ storage. Tap ‘phone’.
Here you will see the storage used by different things on your phone. Tap ‘apps+games’.
In ‘apps+game’, you will see all your installed apps. Tap any you want you move to SD card.
Tip:You can also select multiple apps by pressing the select button and then choosing more than two apps. Press ‘move’ to move them to SD card.
App details will be showed. Here you will get the option to ‘move to SD’. Press it.
Your app will start moving to the external SD card. The app and its data will be moved to external SD and you will be able to free up data on your phone.
