Windows Phone 8.1 tip: How to change the default search provider of Internet Explorer 11 to Google from Bing

Internet Explorer 11 of Windows Phone 8.1 comes with Bing as the default search engine which is not liked by a lot of people using the Windows Phones. But, the good thing is that Microsoft has provided the option to change the default search engine to Google easily.

If you are one of the people who are looking for a way to change the default search engine of Internet Explorer 11 of Windows Phone 8.1 from Bing to Google then, you may follow the instructions below.

Instructions:

  • First of all, launch Internet Explorer. Open the app bar by pressing the ‘’ on bottom right corner.

  • Your IE options will open. Here press, ‘settings’.

  • Internet Explorer settings will open. Here press ‘advanced settings’.

  • In advanced settings, you will see the ‘Default search provider’. Press it.

  • You will see ‘Google’ in suggestion. Press it.

Note: Some newer Windows Phones don’t have the option to change the default search engine of IE 11. So, you might be left behind while changing the search provider.

  • Your default search engine has been changed to Google. Simply search on Google by typing in the address bar and your search result will open in Google Search.
