Microsoft has recently released an update for the Battery Saver app of Windows Phone 8.1 which brings the ability to show live tiles and add battery saver shortcut in the action center along with many other features. But, live tiles for Battery Saver and action center shortcut requires a new build i.e. 14203 which isn’t available for Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 users yet.
It seems Microsoft has released the update for Battery Saver before the release of Windows Phone build which is required for its properly functionality. It seems Microsoft will be launching a new update for the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Developer Preview users which will bump the version to 14204 from 14182 which is currently available.
Microsoft might call this update the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 aka GDR 2 which will bring a couple of new features like more short cuts for action center including the most needed data connection shortcut along with the Battery Saver one in the action center. Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 2 will also bring alphabetical sorting in the Settings app. Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 aka GDR 2 was expected to be launched in late-October or early November.
Microsoft has announced that the Battery Saver update requires the new build but, there is no news when it would be available but, we hope to get it soon since pre-requisite update has already been released for Battery Saver app.
We will keep you updated with the latest builds of Windows Phone which they are released. Stay tuned!
