Microsoft has finally selected the final RTM build of Windows 8 i.e. build 8888 which was compiled on 24 July, 2012. This build would be selected for the Windows 8 RTM and would be released for OEM partners in early August and later to public on October 26.
Canouna the well-known source of Windows 8 leaks, on WinUnleaked has confirmed the build number shared by another number and says its legit. The build in from RTM branch of Windows 8 8888.16384.win8_rtm.120724-1555.
We previously heard about build 8600 to be the final build but, now Microsoft has decided to select 8888 as the final build. 8888 seems the right choice as the build number contains four 8’s.
More details have emerged and now it seems that Microsoft still has to confirm that build as the final one. This build number of Windows 8 RTM is the candidate for final RTM build but, it hasn’t been selected for final build yet.
The build number 8888 may remain same but, actual date of compilation and its folder may change. This has been confirmed by Canouna on Twitter.
