Windows 8.1/RT: December 2014 Patch Tuesday cumulative security updates released by Microsoft

It’s Patch Tuesday which means Microsoft will be releasing new updates for the Windows 8.1 and other Windows OS which includes security and other cumulative updates for all Windows components including core services and Internet Explorer.

The Patch Tuesday of December 2014 includes many important updates for the Windows 8.1 and some of them are marked as important.

The following updates are available where download links have also been provided.

KB2976627 for Internet Explorer 11

This cumulative security update fixes a total of 25 vulnerabilities which have been reported privately by security researcher to Microsoft.

KB3008923 for Internet Explorer 11

This update also fixes security related issues in the Internet Explorer 11 of Windows 8.1. The most important one being fixed in this update is the remote code execution resulting in elevated privileges for hacker.

KB3008925 for Flash Player of Internet Explorer 11

This update is being released to update the Flash Player of Internet Explorer 11 which comes pre-installed in the Windows 8.1. Adobe can’t update the Flash Player in Windows 8.1 so, Microsoft releases the update.

KB3018943 for Flash Player of Internet Explorer 11

This security update has also been released in addition to above one for Flash Player of Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1.

KB3013126 for Windows 8.1

This security update for Windows 8.1 could allow hackers to gain access to your personal information by accessing the exploit in graphics components. The hackers will use a JPEG image on a specifically crafted website.

KB2989930 for Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8.1

This update fixes the issue in Microsoft Surface Pro 3 where the Surface Pen connected to the tablet is showed as not-connected in PC Settings.

KB2994290 for Windows 8.1

This update for the language pack of Windows 8.1 fixes the issue where some users couldn’t install the latest update while using specific languages.

KB3004394 for Windows 8.1

This update for Windows 8.1’s Root Certificate Program allows the client computers to receive root certificate updates within 24-hours of first release.

KB3008242 for Windows 8.1

This update fixes the issue in Intel Bay Trail powered devices where the device can’t enter the connected standby power mode after resuming from hibernation.

KB3012199 for Windows 8.1

This update for Windows 8.1 fixes the servicing stack update where the previous updates were crashing Windows PC’s and users had to go to recovery to uninstall the updates.

KB3013410 for Windows 8.1

This update replaces all previously released update time zones for Windows devices which are no longer being used.

All of the above updates are available for download from Windows Update and are marked as important by Microsoft.
