Microsoft has finally released the long awaited
Windows 8.1 Update 2 ‘August Update’ for all Windows 8.1 Update 1 devices. The update can be downloaded right now for all x86 and x64 devices.
Microsoft has decided to name this update just August update since it doesn’t include any new features and instead, the features of Windows 8.1 Update 2 have been moved to another next update by Microsoft which could be called Windows 8.1 Update 3 or maybe, next version of Windows named Threshold aka Windows 9.
The update adds the following features:
TouchPad improvements: This setting will let you control whether the touchpad is kept on while you are using a mouse or the touchpad gets disabled automatically
Miracast receiver: Windows 8.1 Update 2 will also support additional API’s to make the supported PC a Miracast receiver. Miracast receiving will work over Wi-Fi network
Less login prompts for SharePoint: Windows 8.1 Update 2 will also reduce the login prompts while using SharePoint Online sites on your PC
The update can now be downloaded manually from Microsoft where it includes two different updates with the following technical details:
KB 2975719: It has a download size of 100.2MB for x86 and 169.3MB for x64
KB 2990532: It has a download size of 1.1MB for x86 and 1.7MB for x64
