Windows 8.1 Preview has been in the market for about three weeks and now, we have got the second round of updates for the newly launched OS by Microsoft. The updates which have appeared after the patch Tuesday have been released to improve user experience and compatibility in the OS.

Windows 8.1 gets second round of updates to improve user experience

Microsoft usually releases all its updates on the Patch Tuesday i.e. second Tuesday of each month but, with Windows 8.1, Microsoft seems to be amending that rule by releasing updates before and after that specified day.

We previously saw the first round of updates which fixes many security issues and improved compatibility in almost all the apps of Windows 8.1 like Internet Explorer and other things. Now, another 5 updates have been released which focus on user experience and compatibility in the OS.

The following updates have been released:

KB2863312:

This update fixes the compatibility issues of a couple of desktop applications with Windows 8.1. Interestingly, the same update was released for Windows 8 in June 2013.

KB2866763:

This update fixes the issues while connecting to a corporate network while being connected to a VPN.

KB2867624:

 This update fixes the issue where Windows Update offers updates for PC which isn’t really present.

  • Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1Preview users can install this update from Windows Update in PC Settings

KB2868208:

This update solves the scrolling issue which may occur while using the ListView option.

  • Windows 8.1 Preview users can install this update from Windows Update in PC Settings

KB2868581:

This update improves the file search experience in the Microsoft SkyDrive which is integrated into Windows 8.1.

  • Windows 8.1 Preview users can install this update from Windows Update in PC Settings.

The above updates are marked as recommended and must be installed immediately to prevent issues in Windows 8.1 experience.
