Windows 8.1 gains 1.18% market share with Windows 7 increasing and XP decreasing in November 2014


The market share statistics about desktop OS market share are here and Windows 8.1 has gained a total market share of 1.18% whereas, Windows 8 and Windows 7 has gained fraction of market share with Windows XP getting huge drop.

According to the statistics by Net MarketShare for the month of November 2014, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are still gaining market share globally whereas, Windows 7 is making its market share strong by taking over 50% of share worldwide.

Windows 8.1 has increased from 10.92% to 12.1% making a total increase of 1.18% whereas, Windows 8 has increased from 5.88% to 6.55%. It is to be noted that Windows 8 is upgradeable to Windows 8.1 for free but, still Windows 8 has gained.

Windows 7 is still dominating the market with a total share of 53.71% which has gained from 53.05% in just a month.

Coming to the Windows XP which was once the most used OS has decreased by 3.61% in just a month and XP is still decreasing in the market share after its discontinuing of support by Microsoft in April 2014.

Interestingly, Windows Vista has vanished from the top market share statistics which has been replaced by Windows NT with a share of 2.81%. Mac OS X10.10 holds 2.66% of share with Mac OS X 10.9 with a share of 2.79%.
