Official Twitter app for Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows 8.1 has finally got an update which introduces some of the most anticipated features. The app now support multiple Twitter accounts to be operated and the ‘Lists’ feature which was previously missing from the app has been added. Some minor UI changes have also been added along with the option to pin accounts and lists on Start Screen. The sign up button has also been added to the login page of the app.
Twitter released the official Windows 8 app few months ago and the app worked like it was supposed to but, some features like lists support was missing from it. But, now, Twitter has decided to add more than one feature in the latest update. Twitter has also taken some new features from third party Twitter client apps like MetroTwit which support multiple accounts and Start Screen pinning support.
The Twitter app has got the following changes:
– Sign up option:
You can now sign up for a Twitter account right from the app itself by pressing the Sign up button while you are asked to login to the app.
You simply have to add details like name, email, and password along with username and you Twitter account is created in seconds.
– Multiple account support:
The official Twitter app for Windows 8 is the first ever official app on any platform which includes multiple account support. This feature seems to be a way to snatch users from third party apps which support this feature from a long time and have been very popular among users.
You first have to sign in with a single account but, once signed in you can add as many accounts as you like. Adding new accounts is very simple and you can switch between them with just one press.
The twitter app has also got the long awaited option of lists. You can now view lists created by users on Twitter right from the app and the option to view the members and creators of lists is also there.
– Pin to Start:
Twitter has snatched another feature from third party apps like MetroTwit where you get the option to pin individual profiles and lists to Start Screen. Once pinned, you would be able to access that account directly by pressing its tile on the Start Screen.
– Edit your profile:
You can also edit your profile for basic information like name, location and the website address by going to the ‘Me’ page and pressing the Edit button.
– Other improvements:
Some improvements have also been made in the backend of the app which makes the app more faster and stable on Windows 8 but, Windows 8.1 still has compatibility issues with it on several occasions. The timeline now refreshes faster on second’s intervals instead of minutes making the timeline viewable more quickly.
Note: The log out option of the Twitter has also changed in the recent update. Stay tuned for the way to find out the way to log out from official Twitter app.
