Microsoft has just announced the next generation Surface tablets which has been improved in many ways including hardware and design. The successor of Surface RT named Surface 2 has also been improved in hardware and got thinner and lighter.

Surface 2 is now more lighter and thinner as compared to the first generation Surface RT and still it manages to keep the performance on top which is now double than the current Surface RT. Surface RT can now multi-task more smoothly while running apps in the background.

Surface 2 has now got the full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels screen which still manages to consume less energy and provide better graphics. Graphics performance has also been increase 50% as compared to the first generation Surface RT. Surface 2 will provide upto 10 hours of backup on its battery.

Surface 2 has the following specifications:

  • NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor
  • 10.1-inch Clear Type full HD display
  • 1920 x 1080 pixels of screen resolution
  • 50% increase in graphics with 72 graphics cores
  • 32/64GB of internal storage
  • Upto 10 hours of battery time
  • MicroSD card support
  • Two way kickstand
  • Office 2013 RT included with Outook RT
  • Windows 8.1 as OS

Surface 2 will also come in silver color which is the first ever version of Surface tablet by Microsoft to come in silver. The kickstand on the back of Surface has also been improved to support two way holding positions of tablet. Surface 2 will also get the new & updated touch cover as well as type covers which will help get the productivity of laptops on a tablet.

Surface 2 will be available for sale on October 22, 2013 for the price of $499 for 32GB and $599 for 64GB model. It would initially be launched in 26 different markets on its launch.
