Microsoft has finally released a major feature update for the Skype app of Windows Phone 8.1 which adds the capability to send photos using the popular calling app. The app has also got the ability to show more chat history, small tweaks to make the text bold and other performance improvements have been added as well.
The Skype app is getting this major update after a couple of months where just bugs fixing updates were being released. Previously, the Skype app didn’t support the capability to send photos to your contacts from within a conversation.
The Skype app for Windows Phone 8.1 has got the following changes:
Ability to send photos from within the conversations list.
People using Skype on other platforms like Android, iOS will receive the URL to photos
More conversation history is available to view
Text markups to bold or italic your text within conversations. ‘Asterisk’ works for bold and ‘underscore’ for italics
Ease to add a contact to favorites where it is a swipe away from options
Other performance improvements and bug fixes
The update for Skype app is now available for download from Windows Store and will be downloaded automatically. Otherwise, you may have to manually install the update.
