Private beta of BBM updated for Windows Phone 8/8.1 with bug fixes and more

BlackBerry has updated the internal beta of BlackBerry Messenger for Windows Phone 8.1 with bug fixes and improvements. The private beta fixes some annoying bugs like avatars not appearing for contacts and emoticons problems etc.

Although, BlackBerry has released the public beta version of BBM on Windows Phone but, this hasn’t stopped the Canadian phone maker from updating its private beta version of Windows Phone. The update bumps the version of private BBM to which means it hasn’t got any major changes.

The change log the BBM beta has the following things:

  • Fix for contacts losing their avatars
  • Fix for toast notification when signing in
  • Fix for slow appearance of contacts, chats and feeds while switching from another screen
  • Emoticons have been fixed
  • Many more improvements

BBM has also got a tweak in the name where it shows ‘BBM (Beta)’ instead of ‘BBM Beta’ which can be to make it distinctive from public version which was causing confusion if you have both of them installed.

The update for BBM Beta is now available in Windows Store and will be downloaded automatically. Otherwise, you may have to manually install the update.
