OneNote for Windows 8.1 password protection

With the latest update for Windows 8.1, you will be able to access the password protected sections and notebooks by going to that specific section where you will be prompted to enter the password for it.

Once you have unlocked the section, you can view the content in it but, the thumbnails on the notebooks are not showed to protect your privacy. Additionally, the unlocked section will automatically get locked again after a minute of inactivity in OneNote app.

You can also re-password protect a section, manually, from within the app by right clicking while in that particular section and/or by double tapping that particular section which will open the app bar on bottom where the ‘Lock Protected Section’ option can be seen.

The update for OneNote app is now available for download from Store and will be installed automatically. Otherwise, you can manually install it from the instructions found here.
