Microsoft has started to seed the Lumia Denim firmware for the Lumia Windows Phones devices in the China. The update is being rolled out to a number of Lumias in the Chinese region.
Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 526, Lumia 720, Lumia 720T and Lumia 1320, all are getting the Lumia Denim firmware via an over-the-air firmware update.
Microsoft previously announced that Lumia owners will get the Lumia Denim firmware in late-2014 and the roll out will continue till early-2015 but, with just 15 days till the end of 2014, users were disappointed with Microsoft. This Chinese roll out of Lumia Denim may point towards the update being pushed in other regions soon.
Lumia Denim brings a couple of enhancements for the Lumia Windows Phone devices including Lumia Camera v5 with rich recording and 4K video shoot – dependent on hardware of high-end Lumias. You can read more about the Lumia Denim firmware here.
Lumia Denim will also bring the Live app Folders on Start Screen and VPN support for Lumia Devices whereas, both these features are already available on devices enrolled in the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program.
Lumia Denim is being rolled out in China for low-end Lumia devices whereas, the flagships like the Lumia 930, Lumia 1520 and the camera-king Lumia 1020 are still left in vain but, we expect the roll out for them soon. You can check for the new updates for your Lumia device by going to ‘Settings‘ > ‘About phone‘ and then pressing the ‘Check for update‘.
