Microsoft: All current Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices will be upgraded to Windows 10 upon release

We already know that Microsoft will release new version of Windows named Windows 10 which will unify the experience of Windows on desktop and mobile where the ‘Phone’ name from Windows Phone would be removed. Microsoft will call all devices running Windows versions just, Windows. Windows 10 will also get one app Store for mobile and desktop where same apps will run on both with just user interface scaling.

Previously, there were some rumors that not all the current generation Windows Phone 8 devices will be upgraded to Windows 10 once the new version is launched in mid-2015. Now, the official Lumia handle on Twitter, which was renamed from Windows Phone has confirmed that all current generation Windows Phone 8 devices will be upgraded to Windows 10.

The account mentions a Windows 10 upgrade for all Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices which is a good news for Lumia users since their devices will be upgraded to latest version whether it’s a low-end yet the most popular Lumia 520, the flagship Lumia 1520 phablet or the newly announced Lumia 535 with Microsoft branding.

The Lumia handle of Microsoft also mentioned that new Windows 10 models will be released in future as well where the software giant has used just ‘Windows 10 models’ instead of using Windows Phone 10 models.

This assures that all Windows 8.x Lumia devices will get the Windows 10 upgrade, ultimately, but, the Windows 10 upgrades for others Windows Phone devices like the HTC One M8 for Windows and other phones from Samsung, HTC, Huawei and many more manufacturers will depend on the manufacturer and hardware capabilities.

Are you a Lumia Windows Phone 8 holder and waiting for Windows 10 experience on your phone?
