Facebook Messenger app update for Windows Phone 8.1 brings voice messages and more


The Facebook Messenger app for Windows Phone 8.1 has received yet another update which brings the capability to send voice messages after recording them. You can also choose to send emoticons and smileys from provided ones and other improvements are also part of this update.


Facebook recently released an update for its Messenger app in Windows Phone 8.1 which added the ability to record and send video messages and now, the social platform’s messenger has got the ability to send voice messages. You can also send smiley faces whereas, the previous update brought the ability to select more stickers from ‘sticker store’.

The change log the Facebook Messenger app has following changes mentioned:

  • Record and send voice based messages
  • Emoticons including smiley faces can now be sent where improvements have been made
  • Enhancements to help conserve data
  • Other improvements

You can now send voice bases messages by selecting ‘Send voice clip’ from the options and then, tapping and holding onto red ‘Record’ button to record.

The update for Facebook Messenger is now available for download from Windows Store and will be downloaded automatically to your phone.
