Dropbox app for Windows goes universal with updated Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 apps ahead of Windows 10 launch

Dropbox inc, one of the best file sharing site provider has finally updated its Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 apps which are now universal by sharing most of the code. The apps on both platforms have also got updates in features and interface.

Dropbox apps on Windows have been updated as universal apps even before the launch of Windows 10 which will support universals apps.

Dropbox for Windows Phone bumps the version to 2.0.0 has the following change log:

  • Universal apps with most of the shared code between platforms
  • The app now adapts more effectively on screen
  • Ability to upload files
  • Ability to select and upload multiple files
  • Ability to download files and select to download to SD card or internal storage
  • Ability to save and open files in others apps directly from Dropbox
  • Ability to select contacts from phone while choosing to share folders
  • Better download speeds for files
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

Dropbox for Windows 8.1 has also bumped to v2.0 and has the following change log:

  • Ability to create and manage folders inside the app
  • Keyboard shortcuts like CRTL + A to select all and CTRL + F to find are now supported
  • Improved download speeds
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

The updates for Dropbox apps on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone are now available for download from Store and will be installed automatically. Otherwise, you may manually install the update by following the instructions in this article.
